As a Sustainability Associate with Pierce Energy Planning (PEP), Matt assists Sustainability Managers to incorporate sustainability and energy conservation into the curriculum of school districts, campuses, and communities. Matt aims to help clients reduce their energy usage by monitoring energy data and delivering the highest quality solution to each client’s specific needs. Matt earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Bachelor’s Degree in Renewable Energy from Illinois State University (ISU) in May of 2015.
Matt reaffirmed his passion for sustainability by volunteering at the Ecology Action Center and becoming a LEED Green Associate with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in 2015. He concurrently earned a Master’s Degree in Project Management with a focus on Sustainability and Energy Economics from ISU in May of 2018. While attaining his Master’s Degree, Matt worked with the Innovations Consulting Community where he was the project lead on an LED lighting analysis for a local manufacturing company. He became a member of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at ISU and actively participated with the Institute of Regulatory Policy Studies. This experience allowed Matt the opportunity to intern with the Arizona Commerce Authority’s Research team in the summer of 2017.
Matt grew up in central Illinois and relocated to Mesa to pursue his career in sustainability. As an Illinois native, he is a diehard Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Bulls fan. He also enjoys exercising, reading, and keeping up-to-date on the recent trends in renewable energy technology and policy.
